The short version
LexGrid earns a commission when you click a link to a software vendor on this site and go on to sign up with them. This costs you nothing extra — the price you pay the vendor is the same whether you came from LexGrid or found them directly. We are compensated by some, but not all, of the vendors we cover, and that relationship never changes what we say about a product.
Which links are affiliate links
Any button or link on this site that sends you to a software vendor's website — labeled things like "Try [Product] Free," "Get a Demo," or similar — is an affiliate/referral link. Every comparison, review, and buyer's guide page also carries an on-page disclosure line near the bottom, next to the vendor CTA buttons. Outbound links to vendors we don't have a commercial relationship with are marked the same way visually, but earn us nothing — we don't currently distinguish these inline; if that becomes confusing we'll make it explicit.
How this works, mechanically
When you click through to a vendor and later sign up, an affiliate network or the vendor's own referral system attributes that signup back to LexGrid (typically via a cookie or a tracking parameter in the URL) and pays us a commission — usually a flat dollar amount or a percentage of what you pay the vendor, depending on the program. We don't see your personal information as part of this — only that a referral converted.
How this does — and doesn't — affect our content
We do not accept payment in exchange for a specific verdict, score, or "winner" designation. A vendor paying a higher commission than a competitor does not make it score higher, win a head-to-head comparison, or get recommended when it isn't the better fit. Software we don't have any commission relationship with is evaluated and can be recommended the same way as software we do.
What commission arrangements do affect: which vendors we prioritize covering first, since building out a comparison takes real research time and we're a small operation. That's a coverage-scope decision, not a rating decision.
Not all vendors we cover pay a commission
Some software mentioned or reviewed on LexGrid has no affiliate relationship with us at all — either the vendor doesn't run an affiliate program, or we haven't been approved into it yet. Those get covered on the same terms as vendors who do pay us. If a vendor's program status changes, our commission relationship with them may start or stop without any change to already-published ratings.
